GLASS is the Georgia Library for Accessible Services. GLASS loans FREE talking books and playing equipment, as well as Braille materials, to Georgians who are unable to read standard print materials due to vision impairments OR physical limitations that prevent them from holding or turning the pages of a printed book. The impairment may be either temporary or permanent. Residents who are certified by a medical doctor as having a reading disability also qualify for GLASS services. Materials are provided by the Library of Congress, National Library Service for the Blind & Physically Handicapped. Any resident of Georgia can get a free PINES library card. You do not have to live in Henry County. All you need to do is bring a photo ID and proof of your current address. This can be a driver's license, preprinted check, utility receipt, or cancelled mail received within the last 30 days. How long can items be checked out? Most items are checked out for two weeks. You may renew your books for an additional two weeks as long as no one is waiting for them. Renewals may be made three ways:
What can I find at the library? Books, current magazines, newspapers, videos, talking books (both audiocassette and CD versions), maps, large print books, storytimes, entertaining and educational programs for children and families, computers with word processors , encyclopedias, and free Internet access, and staff members who can recommend books and help you find the information you need. |
