LCI stands for Livable Centers Initiative. Since 1999 the Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC) has been providing funding for planning studies and transportation projects across the Atlanta region. This program of studies and projects has become known as the Livable Centers Initiative (LCI). The focus of the program is to encourage increased residential development, mixed-uses and connectivity in different community types. The Hampton Town Center LCI Study is the second such study in Henry County. The study area encompasses several hundred acres of land, including Main Street, adjacent historic and newer residential areas, Hampton Elementary School, the Southern States facility, and some vacant land near the intersection of Main Street and Highway 20.
